To prioritize prevention, we recommend that women undergo regular screenings, including annual mammography starting at age 40 and yearly Pap smears. A vaginal ultrasound should also be performed annually. For women with a family history of breast cancer, we advise beginning mammography at age 35. In cases of hereditary risks, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations, prophylactic removal of the ovaries is recommended once childbearing is complete.
