When it comes to stalling on the path to parenthood, many couples search about IVF treatment options, and the fertility journey is already not an easy journey to go through, and when it comes to the unexplained fertility problems, it makes all even more difficult and frustrating. Yet we can assure you that it is also a common one. According to various resources, approximately 20% of couples struggle to conceive and have unexplained infertility.

Most of them contact us with a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, which makes them consider an IVF treatment. However, before we jump to an IVF treatment, we provide a complete fertility evaluation, including all necessary tests and scans for both males and females. Let's have a closer look at unexplained infertility.

Every clinic may have its parameters to name it unexplained infertility, but the most common criteria can be described as the following:

If Female:

• ovulates regularly
• has no uterine fertility issues such as endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes.
• no PCOS
• have a good ovarian reserve.

If Male:

• with normal sperm analysis, including sperm count, sperm morphology and sperm movement.

If couples: 

• have intercourse at least twice a week, especially nearer to the ovulation yet cannot have a baby after trying to conceive at least for a year, can be described as (unknown fertility) or (unexplained infertility)

At IVF Turkey, before we go through any initial tests or scans, first of all, we try to understand in detail both female and male medical history.

There can be various potential causes of an explained infertility related to both
female factor infertility and also male factor infertility, such as the following reasons:

• An undiagnosed underlying condition, such as Celiac disease, diabetes and thyroid disorder etc. These conditions may not be related to fertility directly; however, according to some experts, if not treated, these conditions could be one of the reasons for unexplained fertility.
• Hormonal imbalance
• Smoking & having an excess amount of alcohol
• Food sensitives / Intolerances
• Your diet
• Poor egg quality
• Poor sperm quality
• Stress & emotional Struggle

After all the tests are done regarding infertility procedures, and none of them is approved, we may say that the reason is unknown.
