When it comes to stalling on the path to parenthood, many couples search about IVF treatment options, and the fertility journey is already not an easy journey to go through, and when it comes to the unexplained fertility problems, it makes all even more difficult and frustrating. Yet we can assure you that it is also a common one. According to various resources, approximately 20% of couples struggle to conceive and have unexplained infertility.
At IVF Turkey, we are doing our best to provide as much as information possible to explain our patients' fertility problems. Most of them contact us with a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, which makes them consider an IVF treatment. However, before we jump to an IVF treatment, we provide a complete fertility evaluation, including all necessary tests and scans for both males and females. Let's have a closer look at unexplained infertility.
What is unexplained infertility?
Every clinic may have its parameters to name it unexplained infertility, but the most common criteria can be described as the following:
- ovulates regularly
- has no uterine fertility issues such as endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes.
- no PCOS
- have a good ovarian reserve.
- with normal sperm analysis, including sperm count, sperm morphology and sperm movement.
- have intercourse at least twice a week, especially nearer to the ovulation yet cannot have a baby after trying to conceive at least for a year, can be described as (unknown fertility) or (unexplained infertility)
At IVF Turkey, before we go through any initial tests or scans, first of all, we try to understand in detail both female and male medical history.
What can be the potential causes of unexplained infertility?
There can be various potential causes of an explained infertility related to both
female factor infertility and also male factor infertility, such as the following reasons:
- An undiagnosed underlying condition, such as Celiac disease, diabetes and thyroid disorder etc. These conditions may not be related to fertility directly; however, according to some experts, if not treated, these conditions could be one of the reasons for unexplained fertility.
- Hormonal imbalance
- Smoking & having an excess amount of alcohol
- Food sensitives / Intolerances
- Your diet
- Poor egg quality
- Poor sperm quality
- Stress & emotional Struggle
How to diagnose unexplained infertility?
After all the tests are done regarding infertility procedures, and none of them is approved, we may say that the reason is unknown. At IVF Turkey, thanks to our great team of experts, we are very proud to perform several tests/scans both for females and males. Besides having the standard initial tests that we run for our IVF patients, such as hormone level blood tests, a full scan for the female, and sperm analysis (a semen analysis) for the male, we can also offer advanced examinations and treatment options from laparoscopy to hysteroscopy.
What can be the treatment options for unexplained infertility?
First of all, we would like to share the good news that we have patients who have had unexplained infertility and yet managed to conceive without an IVF treatment option; therefore, the first thing that we could suggest is to keep trying and make
sure that you follow the ovulation days correctly as well. You can start having simple fertility treatment, IUI, which is known as artificial insemination. However, some couples prefer to go with IVF / ICSI methodology. As the first IVF Clinic in Turkey, with high success rates in IVF & ICSI, it will be our pleasure to help you find out the reasons for your fertility journey! Despite being hopeful all about the mysterious reasons behind fertility, we also accept that today’s advanced technology still cannot provide a way to measure the unknown factor of infertility.
